great facility with LNAs and RNs who care about residents & love their job!!
On the surface, the place looks nice...the usual carpets, wallpaper, brass fixings, etc. The problems start when one scratches the surface and witnesses the poor quality of care. The focus is NOT on the patient. My friend, during a recent stay on the rehab unit, was subjected to unanswered call-button presses when in need of assistance to the bathroom, forcing him to go on his own, despite imbalance and weakness issues. The doctor in charge did not come and visit the patient for over 3 days after the patient's admittance to the unit, and during his 2 week stay, did not visit again, despite uncontrolled glucose levels and multiple health concerns. A meeting between the patient's partner and the staff was requested early on, and the response was that a 15 minute meeting could be arranged in 2-3 weeks' time. Upon discharge, no instruction on insulin dosing or injection was given. PT/OT was infrequent and pretty much directionless and uninspired. Full regular meals, and sometimes two at a time, were given to the patient despite elevated glucoses...he clearly needed an ADA diet with strict glucose control. The list goes on. There was lack of communication between the staff and staff, the staff and patient/family, and the staff and homecare. I would never allow my loved ones to go there, and not even my enemies. (p.s. I am a physician)
